The TAS2560 is a low-power, high-performance,digital input, boosted Class-D Audio amplifier that canbe easily implemented in both mono and stereo (x2)applications. The device features an ultra low-noiseaudio DAC and Class-D power amplifier whichincorporates speaker voltage and current sensingfeedback for use with speaker protection algorithms.
A Class-H boost converter generates the Class-Damplifier supply rail. When the audio signal requiresonly a lower Class-D output power, system efficiencyis improved by deactivating the boost and connectingVBAT directly to the Class-D amplifier supply. Whenhigher audio output power is required, the multi-levelboost re-activates tracking the signal to provide theadditional voltage to the load.
A configurable on-chip Battery Guard system reducesthe audio output power during the periods of lowbattery voltage to minimize the battery droppingbelow system brownout conditions. Additionally, faultssuch as brownout, over-current, and overtemperaturecan be reported back to the hostprocessor using the IRQ pin. All protection statusesare available via a register read.
